Katsina bans large religious, social night gatherings amidst insecurity concerns

In response to prevailing security challenges, the Katsina State Government has implemented a ban on large religious, social, and other night gatherings.

The announcement was made by the Information Commissioner, Bala Salisu-Zango, in a statement released on Saturday.

The commissioner said, “This ban includes large religious and social public gatherings with the exception of obligatory prayers.”

However, obtaining permission is mandatory for daytime gatherings.

“When it becomes necessary to hold the gathering, permission must be sought from a police divisional officer within the local government area where the gathering will take place.

“This announcement is in the best public interest and safety,” he said.

Effective immediately, this ban is to be strictly adhered to by all residents. Violators will face legal consequences in accordance with the law, warned Mr. Salisu-Zango.
