Kidnapped ex-customs officer regains freedom
An abducted former officer of the Nigeria Customs Service has regained his freedom after a ransom was paid to his captors, according to security and community sources.
The ex-Customs officer was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen last week while travelling along a highway in the region. The incident sparked concern among residents and prompted efforts by family members and community leaders to secure his release.
Sources disclosed that negotiations were initiated shortly after the abduction, leading to the payment of an undisclosed sum as ransom before the victim was released.
The former officer is said to be in stable condition and receiving medical attention following his ordeal. Details surrounding the circumstances of his release remain sketchy, while security agencies have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made.
