Kogi political leaders urge Senator Natasha to apologise to Akpabio

Leaders of the Kogi Consultative Assembly have called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologize to Senate President Godswill Akpabio over her allegations of sexual advances and other claims made against him.

The Assembly, consisting of former and current political figures from Kogi State, urged Natasha to take the honourable path and apologize to the Senate leadership to resolve the issue.

The controversy began when Natasha confronted Akpabio over a change in her seating arrangement. As the dispute escalated, she accused the Senate President of making sexual advances toward her.

Responding to the trending issue, the Assembly, through its convener Hon. Kabiru Mohammed, advised Natasha to take responsibility for her actions and avoid tarnishing her political image.

Mohammed stated, “After reviewing the situation, we believe Natasha was at fault and it is only right for her to apologize and end this conflict, especially as an experienced politician.”

He emphasized that rules must be followed, and it was not in Natasha’s best interest to try to shift blame onto others.

The Assembly’s statement described her actions as unnecessary, arguing that Akpabio was simply acting within his constitutional duties.

Additionally, the Assembly condemned the suggestion of blackmail, saying it was uncharacteristic for a senior politician to use such tactics to avoid accountability.

Mohammed further noted that if sexual harassment had occurred, it should have been reported immediately, rather than after Natasha had been reprimanded for her behaviour.

The group closed its statement by reaffirming their support for Natasha as a reliable representative of Kogi State but stressed that an apology was necessary to clear up the current situation and establish her as a true democrat and patriot in Nigerian politics.
