The Kwara State Government has demoted Hajia Fatimoh Hamzat Nike, a school teacher at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, over allegations of mistreating a youth corps member.

The announcement was made in a joint statement by the Commissioner for Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and the Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Malam Bello Tauheed Abubakar.

The teacher’s actions violated public service rules, leading to her demotion by two grade levels. Additionally, she will be transferred from her current school and required to undergo counseling sessions, as stated in the official announcement.

The state government emphasized that such misconduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“The government deeply regrets the teacher’s actions and assures the management of the National Youth Service Corps that this incident does not reflect the values of the state and will not be repeated,” the statement noted.

It also called on teachers in the state to adhere to the law and perform their duties according to established procedures, assuring that ongoing training on teaching ethics and service standards will remain a priority.
