Kwara United dismisses 22 players ahead of 2024/25 NPFL season
In preparation for the upcoming soccer season, Kwara United Football Club, based in Ilorin, Kwara State, has dismissed 22 players as part of a revamp within the team.
Speaking to sports reporters in Ilorin on Monday, the club’s general manager, Bashir Badawiy, revealed that they have recruited 23 top stars from the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) to strengthen the club for the upcoming 2024/25 NPFL season.
Among the new recruits are standout players like Abayomi Samuel from 3SC, Jimi Iteji from Plateau United, as well as skilled goalkeepers and national team U17, U20, U23, and CHAN Eagles players such as Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar.
Additionally, Ifeanyi Ogba from NPFL Champions, Rangers International, has also agreed to join the team.
Badawiy emphasised the importance of discipline and teamwork, urging the players to align with the club’s values and strive to achieve a top-three finish in the upcoming season.

Looking ahead, he stated, “Our goal for the 2024/25 NPFL season is to secure a top-three position.
We aim to avoid past struggles and build on our successful track record of finishing among the top four and even qualifying for continental competitions.”
Furthermore, Kwara United is set to participate in the forthcoming Valuejet Pre-season tournament in Ikenne, Ogun State, starting from July 24, 2024.
