Lagos State Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, resigns
Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Ms Meranda announced her resignation during a plenary session on Monday afternoon.

The Lagos Assembly has been in crisis since the removal of Mudashiru Obasa who insists his removal did not follow due process.
Neptune Prime reports that Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1 and a former chief whip of the house became the first female speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa over multiple statutory and financial infractions.
Obasa has faced a series of controversies, particularly related to his financial dealings. His impeachment comes just a month after he was accused of spending ₦17 billion on the construction of a gate leading to the assembly.
