Barely three days after electric power was restored in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, the Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday blew up another transmission tower leaving the residents totally confused.
Reports said that the transmission tower was brought down by heavy explosives that were planted on each leg of the high tension pole.
The entire city of Maiduguri experienced a joyful atmosphere as seen in a video Wednesday after power was restored for the first time in about seven weeks following the attack on a transmission tower by the insurgents.

It took officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) weeks to repair the transmission tower brought down by the insurgents at a location about 50km from Maiduguri.
The TCN officials experience a lot of challenges while reconnecting the installation, three were severely injured by a landmine planted by the insurgents. Another official was said to have lost his life after falling off a tower.
The state’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Abioye who confirmed the attack said, “It was another sad attack on one of the power towers. But you should get details from the relevant officials.”
It was also gathered that the Commander of Borno state established a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in charge of security along the Maiduguri-Damaturi.
According to reports, the security team discovered that Boko Haram had planted four bombs on each of the four legs of the towers which exploded and destroyed the tower. It was also noticed that the insurgents fired at the cable linking other poles.
