Malala Foundation rolls out girl-child education project in Adamawa

Connected Development (CODE) in collaboration with Malala Foundation on Thursday rolled out a girl-child education project in Adamawa State.

Zaliha Lawal, Project Manager, disclosed this during a closing ceremony organised by the partners in Yola.

She said that the project have been in the state since 2020 and a lot of success was recorded.

According to her, some of the success includes increased enrollment of girl-child in schools, training of 80 government officials on gender responsive budgeting, also monitoring and evaluation.

She added that the project had over three million impressions on social media, trained 100 School Monitoring Team (SMTs) on project tracking, community engagement and policy influencing.

“What we did not achieve is contact with the state governor to assent 12 years compulsory education and education summit to expose the state to international funding among others,” she said.

In her address, Hajiya Aisha Umar, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, thanked and appreciated the contribution of the foundation for education development in the state.
Umar who was represented by Amina Adamu, Deputy Director Quality assurance, said that government is doing everything possible to provide quality education in the state.

She called on all stakeholders to continue doing well for education development and to encourage enrollment of girls in secondary schools.

Kata Mamuno, member Adamawa House of Assembly under PDP representing Demsa constituency, lauded the foundation, the state for recording a lot of success on the enrolment of girls-child in secondary schools.

She urged stakeholders to double their efforts to sustain the effort of the foundation toward reducing out of school children in the state.

She also advised the stakeholders to liaise with their respective lawmakers in their respective constituencies for more success of the education sector.
