Man gets life sentence for sexually assaulting wife’s six year old niece
A court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his wife’s six-year-old niece, a judgment that has renewed calls for increased awareness and stronger protection for children.
The court heard that the minor was abused while under the care of the convict, whom the judge described as someone entrusted with the child’s safety. Evidence presented during the trial showed that the victim later reported the abuse, leading to investigations and the man’s arrest.

In handing down the life sentence, the court stressed that sexual offences against children cause lasting physical and psychological damage and must be met with the strongest possible punishment under the law.
Child rights advocates say the case highlights the urgent need for parents, guardians, and communities to be more vigilant, noting that many abuse cases are committed by people known to the child. They also urged the public to speak up and report suspected abuse early.
