Man Utd thrash Everton to give Amorim perfect home Premier League start
Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee led Manchester United to a resounding 4-0 victory over Everton on Sunday, marking a triumphant start for new manager Ruben Amorim in his first Premier League home game.
Rashford opened the scoring in the 34th minute, converting Bruno Fernandes’s corner with a precise volley that deflected off Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. This breakthrough ignited United’s momentum, and Joshua Zirkzee doubled the lead just seven minutes later, capitalising on Amad Diallo’s interception of a wayward Jordan Pickford goal kick.
The second half began with Rashford striking again within 20 seconds, thanks to a brilliant through ball from Amad, who delivered a standout performance. Amad further demonstrated his skill in the 64th minute, dispossessing James Tarkowski and setting up Zirkzee for his second goal.

The victory moved United up three places to ninth on the Premier League table after 13 games, while Everton’s struggles deepened as they remained in 15th, hovering two points above the relegation zone.
In another match, Fulham captain Tom Cairney came off the bench to equalise in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur before being sent off for a reckless tackle on Dejan Kulusevski. Brennan Johnson’s 54th-minute volley had given Spurs the lead, but Cairney’s curling effort in the 67th minute levelled the score.
Despite Cairney’s dismissal, Fulham held firm to secure a point, placing them 10th with 19 points from 13 games. Spurs, with 20 points, moved up to seventh on the table.
