Married woman arrested for trafficking 17-year-old girl abroad for prostitution
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Kemi Kolawole, in connection with an alleged human trafficking case involving a 17-year-old girl reportedly trafficked out of the country for prostitution.
Kolawole, a resident of Ifeleye, Ogunpa area of Ibadan and a native of Oyo town, was arrested on Thursday, January 22, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s elder sister, Temilade Olayiwola, on January 20.
According to preliminary investigations by the NSCDC, the victim, identified as Ayomide Olayiwola, was allegedly trafficked on November 25, 2025, by the suspect and her husband, Oni Kayode, aged 32, who is currently at large.

The couple allegedly lured the teenager with false promises of a job opportunity abroad before facilitating her movement out of Nigeria.
While the command is still investigating the full details of the operation and the possible existence of a wider trafficking network, findings so far indicate that the victim was deceived and recruited under false pretences, then taken to Côte d’Ivoire and later to Libya, where she was allegedly forced into prostitution.
The NSCDC disclosed that the victim was introduced to the alleged traffickers by Rodiat Lawal, an apprentice at Kolawole’s shop in Ifeleye, Ogunpa Market, Ibadan.
Kolawole reportedly trades in slippers, shoes and other merchandise at the market.
Rodiat Lawal, said to be a friend of the victim, allegedly linked Ayomide to the suspects after the teenager expressed interest in securing a job.

Investigators said the victim’s desire to find employment made her vulnerable to manipulation by the alleged syndicate, a pattern traffickers commonly exploit when targeting young people in economically disadvantaged communities.
The Oyo State Command of the NSCDC reiterated its determination to clamp down on human trafficking and related offences, describing the crime as a grave violation of human rights and dignity.
The Command assured the public that the arrested suspect would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
At the conclusion of the investigations, Kolawole is expected to be charged in court, while efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest her husband, Oni Kayode, who is believed to be a key figure in the alleged trafficking operation.
The State Commandant also urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities linked to human trafficking, particularly those involving young girls and unemployed youths.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, the NSCDC called on the public to cooperate with security agencies and stressed the importance of timely information sharing.
“When you see something, say something,” the command advised, noting that public support remains critical in the fight against human trafficking and other organised crimes.
