Staff sergeant Ibrahim Kane of the Nigerian Army, killed by an accidentally discharged bullet from a police officer’s gun on 29th May, has been laid to rest at the Gibson Jalo Cantonment cemetery, Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Permanent Secretary of the state government on security, Mr Usman Sulaiman, extended condolences of the state government to the immediate family and the Nigerian Army at large.

Donating the sum of two million naira to the deceased’s family, the governor called on them to seek solace in God.

In the same vein, the commander of 23 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Yola, Brigadier Aminu M Garba, assured the bereaved family of his readiness to ensure benefits of the deceased are immediately released.

He assured of ongoing efforts to investigate the detained police officer and get to the root of the case.

Also in attendance during the burial are the representative of Adamawa state government, Usman Sulaiman, Commander 23 Brigade, Brigadier General Aminu M Garba, 23 Brigade Garrison Commander, representative of Adamawa state police command, family members of the deceased, and officers and men of 23 Brigade.

On the 29th of May, a police officer accidentally shot dead a Military staff Sergeant Ibrahim Kane while on duty, along Numan Road in Adamawa State.
