Ministers meet Spanish firm over Nigeria airspace security

In a bid to enhance the security of Nigeria’s airspace, a delegation led by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and his counterpart in the Defence Ministry, Mohammed Abubakar, met with the CEO of Indra Systema of Spain, José Vicente de los Mozos, and his team.

The meeting aimed to discuss and assess the capability of Indra’s Dual Surveillance Systems integrated with a Command and Control system for the military.

According to a statement signed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser to the Minister, the state-of-the-art system will significantly boost the security framework within Nigeria’s airspace.

Moshood noted that “the collaboration with Indra is expected to bolster Nigeria’s air traffic management and defence infrastructure, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of its airspace”.

Plans are underway to develop a centralised Air Traffic Management system at NAMA’s corporate headquarters, which will streamline and enhance civil aviation operations across the country.

The aviation minister, Festus Keyamo, is expected to brief the press on his return to the country, following his itinerary in Spain.

The collaboration with Indra Systema is a testament to the Nigerian government’s commitment to adopting advanced technological solutions for airspace management.
