Mrs Ayanda Ngwane congratulates Chidimma Adetshina on emerging 1st runner-up at 2024 Miss Universe contest
Neptune Prime Editor-in-Chief, Mrs Ayanda Ngwane, has congratulated Miss Nigeria Universe, Chidimma Adetshina, on her historic achievement as the first runner-up in the just concluded 2024 Miss Universe competition in Mexico.
Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina finished as the first runner-up to Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who ultimately won the crown, taking over from Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
In a congratulatory message on Sunday morning, Mrs Ayanda said, “Congratulations to the stunning Chidimma Adetshina of Nigeria for an exceptional representation of Africa at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant!
“Your remarkable achievement as 1st runner-up has made Africa proud, showcasing the continent’s beauty, intelligence, and resilience.
“You’ve reignited the spark of Nigerian excellence, proving once again that Africa is a force to be reckoned with.
“We celebrate your triumph and the inspiration you’ve brought to millions. Keep shining!”
Chidimma’s journey to the 2024 Miss Universe stage is one characterised by hope, determination and hard work.
Miss Adetshina had earlier withdrawn from the Miss South Africa 2024 contest, which she had advanced to the final stage following some controversies about her nationality.
Nevertheless, Adetshina got an offer to represent Taraba State where she successfully clinched the title of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
Adetshina received tremendous praise from both judges and spectators for her superb performance and poise.
She now made history as the first Nigerian to be crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania and the Miss Universe first runner-up since Agbani Darego’s legendary top 10 finish in the 2001 Miss Universe competition before winning the Miss World crown the same year.
Following her record-breaking achievement, Chidimma shared a heartfelt message reflecting on her journey, the challenges, accomplishments, and the overwhelming support that kept her going, she said,
“To my dearest Nigerians🇳🇬, with open arms, you carried me on wheels made of the purest love and intentions.
“I still cannot fully comprehend the reasons, but what matters most is that you’ve given me a second chance at life.
“For a moment, my life flashed before my eyes, but in the next breath, Nigeria refuelled my purpose and my reason to live,” Chichi said.
Similarly, to strengthen the bilateral relationship between her two nations, Nigeria and South Africa, Miss Adetshina also extended a heartfelt gratitude to South Africans for their unwavering support and publicity.
“I’m deeply thankful for the free publicity, South Africa!”, Chidimma said.
