Murder suspect ‘Killaboi’ finally apprehended in Sierra Leone

A real estate agent, Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi who had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command on October 10, 2023, for his alleged involvement in the killing of his girlfriend, a student of Lead City University in Ibadan, has been apprehended in Sierra Leone.

Best was accused of fatally stabbing 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion during an altercation that occurred on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Oral Estate, Ajah.

Following this heinous act, the suspect reportedly acquired a Sierra Leonean passport and assumed the identity of Kanu Princeton Samuel before fleeing Nigeria on July 28.

A photograph of the suspect was extensively circulated on social media platforms, which ultimately aided in his identification. It was a compassionate individual in Sierra Leone who recognized him and subsequently reached out to the victim’s mother through social media.

The distressed mother, in turn, sought the assistance of her lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), who facilitated contact with the Sierra Leonean authorities.

Upon confirming that the suspect had indeed left the country, the Lagos Police Commissioner, Mr. Idowu Ohonbunwa, directed the state police command to issue a wanted notice for Best. This declaration was made on October 10, 2023.

“The Sierra Leonean police immediately commenced a search for Best Nnanyereugo Benjamin. The deceased’s mother dispatched a family member to Freetown who could work with the police.

“The suspect was arrested on Friday, October 20, at a club in Freetown and is currently being detained to await extradition,” said a government official.
