Mutfwang dismisses rumours of explosion in Jos
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has dismissed rumours of an explosion near the old Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) site, close to Terminus Market in Jos North Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, Mutfwang clarified that reports of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion were false. The alarm was triggered by a group of individuals who mistook a pile of polythene bags for a potential threat.

The governor expressed concern over the panic the false alarm caused in the community. He confirmed that security agencies, including the Plateau Police Command’s anti-bomb squad, responded swiftly, conducted a thorough search of the area, and cordoned off the site. After a detailed inspection, no explosive devices were found.
Mutfwang reassured citizens, urging them to remain vigilant and continue their daily activities without fear. He called on residents to act as responsible ambassadors of the state, emphasizing the importance of supporting the government’s efforts to maintain peace and security across Plateau.
He also encouraged people to report any suspicious activities to security personnel for prompt action and reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.
