NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist hideouts, thwart attacks in Borno

Story by Okafor VivianĀ

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted precision airstrikes that destroyed terrorist hideouts and thwarted planned attacks in Borno and Katsina States. The operations, carried out under Operation HADIN KAI in the northeast and Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the northwest, targeted both insurgents and criminal networks.

According to the NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the airstrikes in Borno State focused on the towns of Chibok and surrounding areas, where Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters had been mobilizing to attack local communities. The airstrikes reportedly neutralized several terrorists and destroyed weapons and logistical facilities.

In Katsina State, NAF jets targeted bandit hideouts in Danfako, Faskari Local Government Area. The strikes destroyed structures used by criminals for operations and storage of weapons. Local sources confirm that the operations disrupted planned attacks and significantly weakened the operational capability of these criminal groups.

ā€œThese precision airstrikes form part of a decisive phase in our ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry,ā€ Air Commodore Ejodame said. ā€œThey demonstrate our commitment to protecting civilians and dismantling criminal networks across the country.ā€

The NAF further stated that these operations are intelligence-driven and aim not only to neutralize armed groups but also to destroy their logistics, mobility, and infrastructure, limiting their ability to plan future attacks.

The operations underscore the NAF’s renewed strategic posture in northern Nigeria, signaling enhanced coordination between air and ground forces to restore security in the affected regions.
