National grid collapses for the 12th time in 2024
The national grid has collapsed for the 12th time in 2024.
A tweet from Nigeria’s National Grid official handle confirmed that the grid collapsed at approximately 2:09 pm on Wednesday.
“The major grid setback has occurred, and restoration efforts will begin,” the tweet read.
The incident was also verified in a statement by Jos Disco to its customers.
The utility company, however, reported that the grid collapsed at approximately 1:33 PM today, resulting in a loss of power supply to its feeders.
Dr. Friday Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications at Jos Disco, assured customers, saying, “We hope to restore normal power supply as soon as the grid supply is restored to normalcy.”
This marks the 12th grid collapse of 2024, with 11 previous occurrences between January and November.
