National grid suffers second system collapse in less than a week
Once again, the national grid has experienced a system collapse, marking the second occurrence in less than a week.
This recent incident follows a grid collapse just five days ago, which was successfully restored within 24 hours.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) issued a notice to its customers, reporting that the system failure occurred at 11:31 am, resulting in a complete loss of power supply across its network.
EKEDC is currently in communication with its partners at the National Control Centre, awaiting further updates on the restoration process.
Efforts to seek clarification on the latest incident from Ndidi Mbah, the spokesperson of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), were unsuccessful as calls and text messages sent to her went unanswered.
In August 2023, TCN had proudly announced that the power grid had maintained uninterrupted stability for more than 400 consecutive days.
This achievement was seen as a significant step forward in the nation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its power infrastructure and ensure a consistent and dependable electricity supply to distribution centers for subsequent distribution to customers nationwide.
Mbah had attributed the sustained stability and reliability of the Nigerian power grid to a combination of strategic measures and investments made by the Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
