NBS website hacked, bureau issues warning against fake reports

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has confirmed that its official website has been hacked by unidentified individuals.

The bureau made the announcement in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.

The NBS advised the public to ignore any information or reports shared through unofficial channels until the website is fully restored. It assured the public that its technical team is actively working to resolve the issue.

The statement read, “This is to inform the public that the NBS website has been hacked, and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored.”

A visit to the website confirmed the breach, with the homepage displaying the message “Page Hacked.” Subsequent attempts to access the site led to an “Internal Server Error” message, which directed users to contact the server administrator at webmaster@nigerianstat.gov.ng for more details.
