Ned Nwoko – I married Regina Daniels at 17 not 21
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has dismissed claims that he married his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, when she was 17 years old.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Nwoko clarified that Regina was 21 at the time of their marriage, providing official documentation to prove her age.
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading,” he stated.
The senator explained that during their first meeting, Regina presented her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card, which showed her date of birth as October 10, 1998.

“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old. She showed me her voter’s card, which clearly stated her date of birth. I have kept that document in my possession since that day,” he said.
Nwoko added that Regina’s mother had also confirmed her daughter’s age in a BBC interview following their marriage, reinforcing his position that the reports were false.
According to him, “Our marriage took place six years ago, which means Regina is 27 years old today. Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be believed.”
He urged the public to treat the allegations with caution, noting that Regina is currently battling mental health challenges linked to drug addiction.
“The facts are verifiable and indisputable. I advise the public to approach her claims with discernment, considering her ongoing mental health and substance abuse struggles,” Nwoko concluded.
