Nigeria launches transformative platform to drive Women’s economic empowerment nationwide

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, in collaboration with Intelligent Innovations, has unveiled the Happy Woman Platform a transformative national initiative aimed at empowering 10 million Nigerian women to achieve financial independence and sustainable economic growth.
The Happy Woman Platform is designed as a one-stop digital ecosystem that provides access to financing, mentorship, training, digital tools, and community support for female entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, Chief Executive Officer of Intelligent Innovations, Kunle Erinle, said the initiative would provide women with essential tools to grow and expand their businesses through funding opportunities, capacity building, and access to low-interest loans.

During the official launch, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the project as a “groundbreaking step” towards advancing gender-inclusive economic development in Nigeria.
“It’s Woman’O’clock in Nigeria! The Happy Woman Platform represents a new dawn for Nigerian women a future where access to opportunities, funding, and digital empowerment are no longer limited by background or circumstance,” she said.
The minister further noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive economic empowerment and sustainable national growth.

“Through this platform, we are ensuring that millions of women have the tools and resources they need to thrive, create wealth, and uplift their families and communities,” she added.
According to the statement, the programme will provide training and mentorship opportunities, skill development, and access to affordable health and wellness plans. Participants will also receive financial literacy training to improve money management and business growth strategies a mandatory step before accessing funding.
The platform will additionally connect women entrepreneurs to low-interest financing, equipment loans, and inventory support through partner financial institutions, enabling them to scale their businesses sustainably.
As part of the initiative, a Women Innovation Challenge will be launched a nationwide competition to identify and support 1,000 innovative business ideas from women entrepreneurs. The challenge aims to bridge the funding gap by linking participants with grants, loans, and investor opportunities.
For digital content creators, the programme will provide training, mentorship, and access to content creation tools, empowering 10,000 women to grow their YouTube and social media-based ventures and earn income through digital creativity.
Expressing optimism about the collaboration, Erinle said the goal of the initiative is to “connect 10 million Nigerian women to financial freedom” by leveraging technology, data, and partnerships.
“We are breaking barriers and creating a single gateway where women can access everything they need from funding and training to visibility and community. Together, we are building a future powered by empowered women,” he stated.
Co-founder of Happy Woman, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, also lauded the initiative, describing it as the result of years of hard work and vision.
“I am truly delighted to see the Happy Woman vision come to life after a journey of over three years. This platform represents a new era for Nigerian women an avenue to access timely information, funding, and empowerment opportunities that can transform lives,” she said.
The Happy Woman Platform will serve as a national connector, linking women to partners across the financial services, FMCG, insurance, and technology sectors. It aims to create millions of jobs, promote entrepreneurship, and drive inclusive GDP growth by ensuring that Nigerian women have the resources and networks to thrive in every segment of the economy.
