Nigeria Police introduces ‘Police VGS’ emergency app to tackle crime
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched a new app called “Police VGS Quick Emergency Report and Response System (QERRS)” to address various dimensions of crime and criminality in the country.
At the unveiling of the Police-VGS Quick Emergency Reporting and Response System, the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, highlighted that this smart policing initiative aims to revolutionize the police’s response to emergencies and ensure swift and efficient action in critical situations.
The Police-VGS app complements the previously launched C4i-NPF Rescue Me App and demonstrates the Nigeria Police’s unwavering commitment to public security and safety.
Egbetokun urged all residents of Nigeria to embrace this innovative solution wholeheartedly, emphasizing that its adoption will significantly impact policing services.
“The Police-VGS QERRS is an application designed to ensure prompt response and referral in the event of emergencies such as accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, criminal incidents, and intelligence sharing.
“With a simple swipe on a phone, emergency notifications will be directly sent to a dedicated team of police operatives, ensuring a swift, live, and coordinated response, reaching the scene in the shortest possible time.
“The Police-VGS app serves as a lifeline that can make all the difference in saving lives, combating crime, and securing our communities,” the IGP stated.
