NLC demand autonomy of judiciary, state legislatures from National Assembly

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, on Monday 28 February 2022, addressed the Nigerian workers during a protest at the National Assembly to demand the autonomy of the judiciary, state legislatures, local government and to secure allowance for INEC to conduct all local council elections.

In the protest, which is a prelude to a major one tomorrow,  1 March 2022, the President said, “Today is a very significant day in Nigerian history because we heard that the Parliament is going to be voting for a constitutional amendment.

“We are out to correct policy mismatch and policy somersault as Senate and House of Representative are prepared to vote for a constitutional amendment on the 1st and 2nd of March 2022”, he said.

Wabba reiterates the fact that the Nigerian workers expect a 100 per cent vote from the Senate and House of Representatives as this will help to strengthen the Nigerian institutions.
