NNPC cuts petrol price to ₦945/litre
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a reduction in the price of petrol at its retail stations, from ₦960 to ₦945 per litre.
This new price took effect on Thursday, February 13, following directives from the company.
At an NNPC filling station in Ejigbo, attendants confirmed the price change and noted an increase in customer turnout, resulting in long queues. However, other filling stations such as Ardova, Mobil, and Petrocam have not adjusted their prices. Ardova continues to sell at ₦970 per litre, while Mobil and Petrocam maintain prices of ₦960 and ₦970 per litre, respectively.
The recent price adjustments are attributed to global energy trends and a decline in crude oil prices. Since the removal of fuel subsidies, petrol prices have fluctuated, reaching nearly ₦1000 per litre.
When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, petrol was being sold at ₦198 per litre.
In addition, NNPCL has announced that the Warri Refinery is undergoing a planned routine maintenance program to ensure optimal operations. According to a statement by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, operations at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) have been halted for repairs to improve service delivery.
