The Northern Governors Forum has sent warm felicitations to former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 63rd birthday.

In a congratulatory message, Chairman of the Forum and Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong said the former President has continued to serve the country with zeal and commitment.

He said Jonathan is a true democrat whose passion for the growth of democracy is reflected not only in his records while in office but also of his current engagements where he has travelled around the world to monitor elections and also engage with stakeholders.

The Governor also saluted the former Jonathan’s patriotism and dedication to the unity, peace and development of Nigeria as well as offering counsel on various issues.

Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, in a statement, wished him many more years of good health, peace and happiness.

The Northern Governors asked him to remain focused on his life of service that has brought honour and goodwill to Nigeria.

Meanwhile the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Fintiri, also described Jonathan as an epitome of humility and an icon of democracy who will be long remembered for selflessness and love for the country over personal interests.

Fintiri said in a message passed to journalists by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou that as former President Goodluck Jonathan marks his 63rd birthday today, he would be remembered for his exemplary character and sacrifice for sustainable democracy in Nigeria.

The Governor quoted Goodluck Jonathan’s famous remark, ‘My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,’ and said Jonathan is a rare son of Africa.

“Your commitment to Nigerian nationhood remains outstanding and commendable. Today, Africa celebrates your sacrifice for nation and democracy,” Fintiri said.

Fintiri added that Jonathan’s commitment to peace has seen him working as ECOWAS peace envoy to Mali.

“You are a person of great integrity and deep dignity and extraordinary courage. Your courage has helped in no small measure in deepening democracy on the continent,” Fintiri said.

He commending Jonathan’s God-fearing posture amid sit-tight leaders in and around Africa.

“I’m glad to add my comments to the many who wish you happy birthday. Thank you for setting examples of working in good faith in finding common ground,” Governor Fintiri said, praying for long life, good health and strength for Goodluck Jonathan to do more for the continent.

“Your love for Nigeria and commitment to her unity, stability and good governance is worthy of emulation by all. Nigeria owes you a debt that her people cannot pay. Happy birthday the quintessential African politician”, Fintiri added.
