Obasanjo, Atiku, Shettima grace Kwankwaso’s daughter’s wedding in Kano (Pictures)
Kano State was abuzz on Saturday as prominent Nigerian leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, graced the wedding Fatiha of Dr. Aisha Kwankwaso, daughter of former Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The ceremony, which showcased Kano’s rich cultural heritage, took place at the historic Emir’s Palace.
The groom, Fahad Dahiru-Mangal, is the son of prominent business magnate Dahiru Mangal. The couple’s union attracted a host of dignitaries from across Nigeria. Among them were Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his deputy Aminu Abdusalam Gwarzo, Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar, Steel Minister Prince Shuaibu Abubakar, and former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Prominent political figures such as the former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, Governors Dikko Radda of Katsina, and Sen. Adamu Aliero also joined the festivities. Other ex-governors present included Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna, Mahamud Shinkafi of Zamfara, Isah Yuguda of Bauchi, Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom, and Lucky Igbinedion of Edo.
The wedding proceedings, led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zaharaddeen, commenced at approximately 12:15 p.m. Vice President Shettima, who represented the groom, presented a dowry of N1 million to Governor Kabir Yusuf, who stood in for the bride. The ceremony featured prayers for the couple’s unity and happiness.
The occasion also saw the presence of senators such as Abdul Ningi, Dino Melaye, and Rufai Hanga, alongside members of the National and State Assemblies, diplomats, and captains of industry. Hundreds of Kano residents turned out to witness the high-profile event.
The wedding Fatiha highlighted the central role of traditional institutions in Kano, with the Emir’s Palace serving as a symbol of unity and cultural pride. Kwankwaso, a former Governor, Defence Minister, and Senator, underscored the significance of the event in strengthening family bonds and community ties.
The gathering of high-profile guests at the Emir’s Palace not only underscored the influence of the Kwankwaso family but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of culture, tradition, and relationships in Nigerian society.
