PHOTOS: Kwankwaso joins ADC, receives Membership Card in Kano
Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former Kano State governor registered with the party and received his membership card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road, Bompai, in Kano.
Prominent political figures were present at the event, including ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Senator Dino Melaye, and former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, among others.
Photos from the event captured Kwankwaso signing the ADC membership register and later receiving his membership card from David Mark.
His defection follows his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which he announced a day earlier, citing the need for political realignment.
Kwankwaso described his exit from the party as a difficult decision, given his long-standing involvement, but said current political realities necessitated aligning with a platform he believes offers a stronger opportunity to drive national change.
He expressed appreciation to the NNPP leadership, including National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed, as well as members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement for their support.
Kwankwaso added that he remains committed to working with supporters and allies toward building a more prosperous future for Nigeria.
