Pakistan hosts fresh US–Iran talks as Tehran delegation arrives in Islamabad
An Iranian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday ahead of high-level negotiations with the United States, facilitated by Pakistan.
The talks come amid ongoing tensions linked to the Middle East conflict, with the White House confirming that US Vice President JD Vance will lead the American delegation during the discussions scheduled for the weekend.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, disclosed via X that the delegation would engage in “serious talks” based on a 10-point proposal put forward by Tehran. He noted that despite lingering doubts due to repeated ceasefire violations attributed to Israel, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the initiative.
In preparation for the diplomatic engagement, authorities in Islamabad have declared local holidays, a move often linked to heightened security measures surrounding major international events.
Officials, however, assured residents that essential services—including healthcare, law enforcement, and utilities—will remain fully operational during the period, urging the public to plan their activities accordingly.
