The Airport Police Command has apprehended a 14-year-old boy, identified as Eke Miracle, over an attempted stowaway incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued on Monday by the command\u2019s spokesperson, Mohammed Adeola, authorities said the teenager unlawfully gained access to a restricted area of the airport, breaching aviation safety regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The boy was reportedly intercepted on the tarmac while attempting to gain access beneath an aircraft, raising fresh concerns about airport security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police described the act as highly dangerous, noting that it posed serious risks to both the individual and aviation operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe minor was discovered on the airport tarmac while attempting to unlawfully gain access beneath an aircraft, an act which constitutes a serious breach of aviation security protocols,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities added that the teenager\u2019s actions violated Sections 2 and 3 of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) byelaws, which prohibit unauthorised entry into restricted airport zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the interception, the boy was taken into protective custody, with officials emphasising that his welfare was prioritised throughout the process. His parents were also notified, and interviews were conducted in their presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, reiterated the importance of maintaining strict security at airports, describing them as critical national infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children, especially around high-risk and restricted environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police confirmed that the case would be handled in accordance with juvenile justice procedures, with the minor expected to be charged before an appropriate juvenile court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident adds to previous stowaway attempts recorded at Nigerian airports, including cases involving Overland Airways and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
