{"id":2125,"date":"2026-03-31T13:02:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/?p=2125"},"modified":"2026-03-31T13:02:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:02:16","slug":"nigeria-secures-diplomatic-clearance-from-10-countries-for-ambassadorial-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/2026\/03\/31\/nigeria-secures-diplomatic-clearance-from-10-countries-for-ambassadorial-appointments\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria secures diplomatic clearance from 10 Countries for Ambassadorial appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that 10 countries have granted approval for the country\u2019s newly appointed ambassadors-designate as diplomatic processes continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement by ministry spokesperson Kimibie Ebienfa, the countries that have issued agreements include the United Kingdom, France, United States, Ireland, Qatar, Benin, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ebienfa noted that responses are still being awaited from several other nations, adding that the induction ceremony for the ambassadors-designate will be announced once finalised and confirmed by the presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have received agreements from the United Kingdom, France, United States of America, Ireland, Qatar, Benin Republic, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, Sierra Leone, among others,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approvals are still pending for nominees such as Femi Fani-Kayode, posted to Germany, and Reno Omokri, assigned to Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2023, President Bola Tinubu ordered the recall of all career and non-career ambassadors. The process of appointing new envoys began in November 2025, with 67 nominees confirmed by the National Assembly as of December that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March 2026, Tinubu approved the deployment of 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors to various countries and international organisations, including the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among earlier postings, former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Kayode Are, was assigned to the United States, while former National Intelligence Agency boss Ayodele Oke was posted to France.
