At least four people, including three farmers and a herder, have been killed in renewed attacks across communities in Plateau State, heightening concerns over persistent insecurity in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incidents occurred in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, just three days after Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the state following the deadly assault on Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North, where 28 people lost their lives. During the visit, the president had pledged an end to such violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leaders of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) confirmed that the farmers were killed on Sunday night in Pwomol village, Heipang District of Barkin Ladi LGA, while the herder was murdered early Monday in Jol community of Riyom LGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both Berom and Fulani groups traded accusations over the killings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BYM spokesperson, Rwang Tengwong, said the victims in Pwomol were vigilante youths guarding the community when they were attacked. He added that another individual sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National President of BYM, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, condemned the violence and called for a thorough and transparent investigation by security agencies. He also commended the swift response of the Special Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, the Plateau State chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed the killing of a herder, stating that the victim was ambushed while travelling with his younger brother, who managed to escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI personally reported the incident to the DSS and the commander of Operation Safe Haven. We later recovered the body from Sector 6, Makera, Riyom LGA,\u201d Babayo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both groups denied responsibility for the attacks on each other\u2019s communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, Polycap Oteh, said he would provide updates after obtaining full details, but had yet to respond as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest violence adds to a series of recent attacks in Plateau communities. Last Wednesday, four people \u2014 including two farmers and two herders \u2014 were killed in separate incidents in Barkin Ladi and Jos South LGAs. Days later, three more farmers were killed and another injured in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recurring clashes underscore ongoing tensions in the state, with residents calling for stronger security measures to prevent further loss of lives.<\/p>\n\n
