{"id":2457,"date":"2026-04-07T12:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T12:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/?p=2457"},"modified":"2026-04-07T12:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T12:56:09","slug":"fg-begins-mass-trial-of-terrorism-suspects-at-abuja-federal-high-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/2026\/04\/07\/fg-begins-mass-trial-of-terrorism-suspects-at-abuja-federal-high-court\/","title":{"rendered":"FG begins mass trial of terrorism suspects at Abuja federal High Court"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Government has commenced the mass trial of suspected terrorists at the Federal High Court Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proceedings began on Tuesday before several judges, including Binta Nyako, as the court takes on an increased caseload of terrorism-related matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the trials, which are typically held in Kainji, Niger State, were temporarily relocated to Abuja due to the court\u2019s Easter vacation schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vacation runs from April 7 to April 13, with normal sittings expected to resume nationwide on April 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, about 13 courtrooms at the Abuja division are handling terrorism cases, with judges including Emeka Nwite, Musa Liman, and Akpan Ekerete presiding over different matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal Government\u2019s legal team is led by Rotimi Oyedepo, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, while the defence team is headed by Aliyu Abubakar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the defendants listed in court are Hamat Modu, Isah Ali, Awal Bello, Shehu Bukar, Alhaji Kulle, Mohammed Abacha Hassan, Aminami Mallum, Tasiu Yakubu, and Abdullahi Ali, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Security was significantly tightened around the court \u092a\u0930\u093f\u0938\u0930, with armed personnel blocking access roads and a police helicopter patrolling the Central Business District during the proceedings.<\/p>\n\n    <div class=\"xs_social_share_widget xs_share_url after_content \t\tmain_content  wslu-style-1 wslu-share-box-shaped wslu-fill-colored wslu-none wslu-share-horizontal wslu-theme-font-no wslu-main_content\">\n\n\t\t\n        <ul>\n\t\t\t        <\/ul>\n    <\/div> \n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has commenced the mass trial of suspected terrorists at the Federal High Court Abuja.
