{"id":2541,"date":"2026-04-09T11:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T11:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/?p=2541"},"modified":"2026-04-09T11:04:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T11:04:16","slug":"yobe-moves-to-harness-solid-minerals-for-economic-diversification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neptuneprime.com.ng\/old\/2026\/04\/09\/yobe-moves-to-harness-solid-minerals-for-economic-diversification\/","title":{"rendered":"Yobe moves to harness Solid Minerals for economic diversification"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yobe State Government has taken a significant step toward developing its solid minerals sector, holding a reconciliation and stakeholder engagement meeting with the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting, held at the WAWA Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, forms part of efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability within the extractive industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The engagement brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, mining companies, civil society groups, and traditional institutions, reflecting a collaborative approach to sector reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, described the theme, \u201cUnlocking Nigeria\u2019s Solid Mineral Potential for Economic Diversification,\u201d as timely amid ongoing efforts to reduce dependence on oil revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasised that the solid minerals sector holds strong potential for industrial growth, job creation, and sustainable development, noting that Yobe is richly endowed with mineral resources capable of driving economic transformation if properly harnessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his remarks, Musa Sarki Adar, Executive Secretary and CEO of NEITI, reaffirmed the agency\u2019s commitment to ensuring that Nigeria\u2019s mineral wealth translates into real benefits for citizens.
