One dead, 105 injured in ghastly auto crash in Yobe

A tragic road accident on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, has left one person dead and 105 others seriously injured in Potiskum, Yobe State.

The accident occurred at the roundabout leading into Potiskum from the Kano road axis, when a trailer lost control and overturned at the junction.

Emergency response teams from the Potiskum Specialist Hospital, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Fire Service swiftly responded to the scene, transporting victims to the Specialist Hospital for immediate medical attention.

One person was confirmed dead, 105 sustained various degrees of injuries. Some of the more critical cases were referred to the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital Azare in Bauchi State for further treatment.

The victims were mostly traders from Azare, Bauchi State, who were on their way to Potiskum for the popular cattle market.

According to Yobe State Specialist Hospital Potiskum report, stated that a trailer carrying 115 people from Azare town in Bauchi State, heading to the Potiskum cattle market, overturned at the roundabout at the entrance of Potiskum town. One person died, 105 sustained serious injuries, while 9 people were unhurt, many of the injured suffered severe limb injuries, with some having legs completely severed, while others remained unconscious due to the impact of the crash.
