Owo Catholic Church reopens 10 months after attack (Photos)

The Saint Francis Catholic Church located in Owo, Ondo State, which was attacked by gunmen ten months ago has been reopened for religious activities.

Neptune Prime recalls that on June 5th, 2022, gunmen attacked the church and killed some of the worshippers while the majority were left injured.

  Security agents said about 40 worshipers were killed during the attack.

The Governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu, had visited the scene to commiserate with the church and the entire town.

Relief materials and funds were donated to victims and families of those who lost their loved ones.

And in March 2023, Akeredolu disclosed to newsmen that the construction of a memorial park in honour of the victims of the attack has commenced.

Punch reports that the church has its first service on Sunday, April 9 2023.
