PDP dissolves Plateau exco, appoints caretaker committee

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the dissolution of the party’s Plateau State Executive Committee, led by Chris Hassan, a former Commissioner.

The Committee has also ordered for a fresh election in the State’s chapter.

This was disclosed in a statement by its national organizing secretary, retired Colonel Austin Akobundu, in Abuja.

Akobundu said the NWC also appointed an interim state committee to oversee state affairs for a period of no more than 90 days from Thursday, June 10.

A member of the dissolved party exco and state Publicity Secretary, John Akans confirmed this to newsmen in Jos.

Akans said, “The dissolution is true and only affects the state party officials. The need to conduct a repeat election was part of the agreement reached by critical stakeholders at their recent meeting with the national leaders of the party in Abuja. And we have taken the development in good faith and have decided to abide by their decision in the interest of the party in Plateau State.”

The Interim State Committee is chaired by Senator Tunde Ogbeha and Hon. Patrick Ogbu, as secretary.

The members are Kunsi Ndayako, Michael Dapialong, Pam Davou, Emmanuel Go’ar, Istifanus Mwansat, Mr Ishaku Chuntai, Jacob Adikaba, Akims James and Gregory Yenlong.

Akobundu, in the statement, urged all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the party in Plateau State and the nation at large to be guided accordingly.
