The people of Kogi State have been told to give correct data to enable them to benefit from the Kogi NG CARES Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Result Area 3 micro and small scale enterprises grant.

The Managing Director and CEO of Kogi Enterprising Development Agency (KEDA), Hajia Rakiya Sanni Onaivo, gave the advice in Okene while sensitizing the people of the Central Senatorial District on the program.

Hajiya Rakiya noted that the sensitisation aimed to enlighten prospective beneficiaries on the objective and criteria necessary to assess the fund, explaining that over eight thousand citizens from Kogi State would be captured.

The Managing Director said KG- CARES Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Result Area 3 is a state-level intervention that seeks to mitigate the local effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state by supporting the recovery of local economic activities, especially among Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs).

According to her, 40 per cent of the grant have been earmarked for women, 40 per cent for men, 10 per cent for youths and 10 per cent for people living with disability, urging them to key into the project to harness the opportunities available to be able to enhance their businesses.

The Ohi of Okene, Alhaji Isah Manman, commended the state government for embarking on programs that will be of benefit to the people, saying that the micro and small scale enterprises are the bedrock of every country’s economic development.

Alhaji Manman advised his subjects to take the sensitisation as a real opportunity, advising them to key into it to beef up their business.

The Acting Chairman of the Okene Local Government Area, Hajia Bilkisu Aliyu, commended the efforts of the state government and the World Bank for the initiative, pointing out that it will help reduce the level of poverty in the rural area assuring that they will not misuse the opportunity.

The Media and Publicity Secretary of People Living with Disability Kogi Central, Comrade Ahmed Abdulkarem, appreciated the state government for giving the people with disability 10 per cent of the grant saying that the NG CARES project will go a long way in reducing their challenges.
