Petrol price increases to N930, N840 per litre in different states

The price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in major Nigerian states has skyrocketed to over N900 per litre across some filling stations.

On Tuesday morning, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) adjusted pump price in different states.

A memo obtained by Neptune Prime directed an upward review of PMS pump prices in different states.

This development comes barely two days after NNPCL admitted to challenges in importing fuel due to an $8 billion debt.

However, the NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, declined to comment when contacted to speak on behalf of his boss, the GMD, Mele Kyari.

This newspaper observed that NNPC outlets are currently inundated by long queues as the price of the commodity skyrocketed.

An NNPCL official at one of the outlets, who prefer anonymity, said they were waiting for directives to begin sales at the new price.

“We just came this morning 3rd of September, and turned on our machines only to see the adjustment. You can see it for yourself. We are here now waiting for directives to start selling,” he said.
