Police alert Nigerians to planned nationwide cultist initiation

The Rivers State Police Command has raised an alarm over a planned nationwide mass secret cult initiation, scheduled for Sunday, July 7, 2024. The event, code-named AIYE Day or 7/7, is believed to be organized by the Neo-Black Movement (NBM), also known as Aiye or Black Axe.

“This celebration is expected to occur in all states, particularly targeting higher institutions of learning”.

A spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement, highlighted the notorious history of the Neo-Black Movement, which is known for campus killings, inter-cult clashes, and other violent activities.

The statement expressed concerns about the potential for inter-cult violence, forced initiations, rape, and armed robbery during the celebration.

In response, Commissioner of Police CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical team commanders to conduct pre-emptive and responsive raids on identified cult hideouts, blackspots, and hotels.

Increased security measures and strict supervision are advised for higher institutions, and parents, guardians, community leaders, and religious leaders are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
