Police arrest 11 suspects over gang-related murder of 29-year-old woman
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended 11 suspects in connection with the killing of 29-year-old Ahmed Lawan, popularly known as Soje, in the Sabon Kasuwa area of Bauchi metropolis.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the case of culpable homicide was reported to the D Division Police Headquarters on October 2, 2025, by a Good Samaritan.
According to the report, two unidentified men had visited the residence of the deceased, allegedly a member of the notorious Sara-Suka gang, and stabbed him in the chest before fleeing.

Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mubarak Sani Baba, promptly arrived at the scene and conveyed the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where he was confirmed dead. His remains were later released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.
Preliminary investigation identified Abubakar Ibrahim, alias Duduwa, and Abubakar Mohammed as the prime suspects. Following the burial, a mob launched a reprisal attack, setting fire to one of the suspects’ family houses. A joint team of operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Operation Restore Peace (ORP), and the D Division quickly intervened to prevent escalation.
Later that day, Duduwa, who had fled, was reportedly sighted around Mararraban Liman-Katagum and was apprehended by local vigilantes. However, while being transported to the police station, an angry mob intercepted the group at Kwanar Kwaila and attacked the suspect with cutlasses, inflicting deep injuries on his head and hands.

Police operatives responded to a distress call, dispersed the mob, and rescued the suspect, who was then taken to ATBUTH for treatment.
The other suspects arrested include Abdulwahab Adamu (25), Nuruddeen Idris (21), Kabiru Saidu (25), Ibrahim Hamza (22), Abdullahi Isah (21), Abdulrasheed Garba (25), Abdulwahab Abubakar (25), Kabiru Muhammad (27), Musa Abdullahi (24), Umar Muhammad (25), and Umar Ali (27) — all residents of Bauchi metropolis.
“They are all undergoing thorough investigation to determine their level of involvement. Efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining accomplices,” Wakil said.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, warned parents and community leaders to caution their wards against thuggery and violence. He stressed that the Command would deal decisively with anyone found breaching public peace, adding that tactical teams have been deployed across the state to maintain law and order
