Police arrest 22-year-old tailor for killing rival in Adamawa

Police have arrested a 22-year-old tailor, Muhammed Bala, for stabbing another man who was dating his girlfriend to death in Adamawa State.

According to NaijaNews, Bala claimed to be in love with the teenage girl identified as Maryam Mohammed and got enraged when he learnt that the suspect, Bakura, was also in a relationship with her.

The spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest said an investigation showed that the two men have been competing over Maryam.

He said the deceased had warned Bala to stay away from the lady,  “but because of the love he has for the lady he cannot in any way stay away from her.”

“So it now became a very serious competition between them to the extent that the deceased was always overpowering him, and he (Bala) decided to always carry a knife.

“Anytime they meet, they will exchange words until the last one before they engaged themselves in a fight in which he stabbed the victim to death,” said Nguroje.

The police spokesman said Muhammed, who hails from Mararaba in Madagali Local Government Area, killed Bakura on 15th February 2023, by 9:00 pm at the compound of the 17-year-old Maryam Mohammed.

He said when Bala met Bakura together with the girl at the compound of the latter, he beat her up and subsequently descended and killed the victim.
