Police arrest 5 suspects over killing, robbing of Senator Gaya’s son

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested five(5) suspects over the killing of Senator Kabiru Gaya’s son, Barrister Sadiq Gaya.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Josephine Adeh, said the five suspects, in connection with the murder are already in the police custody as investigation continues.

“Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder and investigation is ongoing. The outcome of the investigation will be communicated subsequently,” Adeh said.

However, the police did not reveal the identities of the suspects in custody in order not to jeopardise the investigation.

Recall that the Kano South lawmaker’s son, who worked with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), was killed recently in Abuja over alleged N3.5 million unnamed deal.

The father of the deceased, Senator Kabiru Gaya, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is a former governor of Kano State and a Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District.

Smpathisers have continued to troop into Senator Gaya’s Abuja residence to condole with him but it was learnt that he silently moved to Kano to receive sympathisers.

The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have visited him in his Kano residence and sympathise with him.

It could be recalled that late Sadiq Gaya’s mother also died recently in Kano.

A reliable family member in Kano told Neptune Prime that late Sadiq was into chains of private businesses and was also controlling his father’s businesses before he was killed in a hotel room in Abuja and his body was dumped in the hotel’s swimming pool, after the sum of N20 million was transferred from his phone to another account.
