Police arrest four over alleged ₦9.29m Hajj slot fraud targeting intending pilgrims
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly defrauding intending pilgrims of over ₦9.29 million under the guise of securing Hajj slots for the 2026 pilgrimage.
According to the police, the prime suspect, Aminu Hassan Zauro, allegedly collected ₦8.6 million from one victim with promises to facilitate two Hajj seats, while another victim reportedly paid ₦690,000 as part payment for the same purpose.

Police investigations further revealed that the suspects issued fake Hajj materials, including travel bags and medical documents, to convince victims that the process was genuine.
The other suspects arrested in connection with the fraud are Tabiu Abubakar, Usman Attahiru, and Mustapha Sani Zauro. Authorities disclosed that four additional suspects linked to the syndicate are still on the run.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammed Hadejia, warned members of the public, especially intending pilgrims, to deal only with accredited officials and agencies approved for Hajj arrangements.
The police said investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects.
