Police arrest man in Kadjebi for impersonating soldier, stealing a motorbike

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man in the Kadjebi area for allegedly posing as a military officer to steal a commercial motorbike. The incident has renewed concerns about the growing cases of impersonation and theft involving fake security personnel across the country.
According to police reports, the suspect approached a commercial motorbike operator, identifying himself as a soldier. After gaining the rider’s trust, he allegedly requested to use the motorbike but absconded with it. Following a formal complaint by the victim, police launched an investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
It was later confirmed that the man had no connection with the Ghana Armed Forces, prompting his immediate detention.

A police officer said that the case reflects a worrying trend in which criminals exploit the public’s respect for uniformed officers to commit crimes. Authorities have warned that impersonating members of the security services not only aids criminal activity but also undermines public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
The stolen bike reportedly belonged to a local commercial rider whose daily earnings depend on transporting passengers around Kadjebi. The theft has caused anxiety among other riders, many of whom are now calling for stricter security measures and better verification of passengers.
Investigators are working to determine whether the suspect acted alone or is part of a wider syndicate operating in the area. Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has urged the public to remain vigilant when dealing with individuals claiming to be members of the military or police. Citizens are advised to request valid identification and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
