Police arrest woman conveying 991 AK-47 ammunition meant for notorious gunman ‘Alero’ in Zamfara

Nine hundred and ninety-one AK-47 ammunition meant for a notorious gunman, ‘Alero’ have been recovered by officers of the Zamfara State Police Command from a 30-year-old Fatima Lawali.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkanah in a press conference held at the Command’s Headquarters in Gusau the state capital made this known to journalists.

It was revealed that Lawali who is a native of Kaura/Namoda Local Government Area specialises in supplying arms and ammunition to bandits in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina and Niger States respectively.

According to the CP, the suspect was arrested at Gada Biyu area, under Bungudu LGA with nine hundred and ninety one (991) rounds of AK-47 live ammunition conveying from Dabagi Village in Sokoto State.

The CP said the ammunition were to be delivered to a notorious bandit’s kingpin called Ado Alero who has been terrorizing Zamfara and neighbouring states in recent times.

CP Ayuba Elkanah promises that suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
