Police bust kidnapping rings in Kaduna, Delta, rescue victim

Police have rescued a kidnap victim and arrested eight suspects as part of a nationwide effort to combat violent crime.
The successful operations took place in Kaduna and Delta states, according to a statement released late Sunday by Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi. During the operations, police recovered firearms, ammunition, and other weapons.
In Kaduna, a coordinated rescue operation freed kidnap victim Hussaini Ibrahim from Jagindi Tasha Village after his abductors abandoned him in a nearby forest.
“Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of four suspects directly connected with the abduction, named Umar Yusuf Jabiri of Jagindi Tasha, Buhari Muhammad, a.k.a. “General” of Bayya village, Ahmadu Nasiru of Gidan Waya and Zakari Saleh,” Adejobi said in the statement. Police recovered one AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles.

In a related development, police in Kaduna intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos, Plateau state, that was headed for Gusau, Zamfara state.
A search of the package revealed an AK-47 rifle hidden inside a sack. Two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, were arrested in Gusau after they arrived to take delivery of the firearm.
Simultaneously, in Delta State, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) raided a kidnapping hideout on Ibusa Road and arrested Chiadiji Collins, also known as “Smooth,” a 42-year-old suspect linked to multiple abductions. A search of his home in the Ewulu community led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and forty rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Ezechie Andrew, who was found with two pump-action guns and two live cartridges.

All suspects are currently assisting the police with their investigations and will be charged to court upon their conclusion.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the police for their “tactical precision, professionalism, and bravery.” He urged citizens to remain vigilant and support law enforcement in its fight against crime.
