Police in Kano bust notorious armed robbery syndicate

Police in Kano State have arrested seven gang members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate responsible for terrorising the Kano-Katsina States axis.

Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said the arrest followed the launch of a manhunt for criminals by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Gumel, to mop out criminals in the state.

He said police succeeded in the arrest of 27-year-old Ibrahim Rabiu of KwanarUngogo Quarters, the mastermind of several armed robbery cases, and seven of his compatriots.

He said during the operation, police recovered some exhibits; two unregistered motorcycles, three Papalow swords, four cutlasses, five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 135 pieces of exol tablets, ten sachets of Diazepam tablets, 150 pieces of rubber solution and 27 potwin injections.

Kiyawa said the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
