Police nab guard for stealing employer’s vehicle

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old security guard for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry from his workplace in Badagry, Lagos State.

The suspect was apprehended in Ikire, Osun State, while driving the vehicle on July 10.

According to police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, officers on routine patrol flagged down the suspect for a document check.

When he attempted to flee, they swiftly apprehended him. The suspect confessed to stealing the car from Poget Care Homes Foundation, where he worked as a security guard.

In related news, the police also announced the arrest of suspects linked to cult-related activities, armed robbery, and murder in Ilesa, Ekiti, and Ondo.

One suspect was caught attempting to sell a stolen Lexus jeep, while another was linked to a home invasion and double homicide in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.

Additionally, a suspect was arrested for armed robbery in Ile-Ife, where merchandise worth over ₦800,000 was stolen. The police recovered locally fabricated shotguns and are investigating.

Osun State Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Gotan praised officers for their swift response and urged the public to remain vigilant and supportive of law enforcement efforts.

“We urge residents to continue to provide timely and actionable information to help us combat crime and improve public safety. The police cannot do it alone,” he said.
