Police probe brutal killing of woman, six children in Kano community

The Kano State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the gruesome killing of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
According to a police report, the command received a distress call at about 12:10 pm on January 17, 2025, reporting a violent attack on the residence of Haruna Bashir in the Dorayi Chiranchi area. The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar, aged 35, and her six children.

Preliminary findings revealed that unknown hoodlums allegedly broke into the house and attacked the victims with dangerous weapons, inflicting fatal injuries on them.
Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, immediately deployed a police team to the scene. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
The bodies of the victims were evacuated from the scene and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Following the incident, CP Bakori directed a team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, to conduct a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
The Kano State Police Command expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State, assuring the public that all efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
